“So much of who we are is where we’ve been.”
-William Langewiesche.
I’m aware that living in New York recently reinforced my desire to create authentic work about how we connect.
Even the “flop and drop” style of travel is waning in favour of travellers choosing holidays that give them a social and emotional connection to a different culture.
Recently I photographed such a tour run by the renowned food stylist, Nicola Sinclair. We stayed in a 16th Century Palazzo, welcomed by the Count and Contessa in what is their ancestral family home. Their genuine warmth and interest to engage was a reminder for me to get out of my head and do the same.
